After U of I, went into The United States Army Band in Washington, D.C. for three years. Returned to Champaign in 1969 to earn a Masters in clarinet, then, in 1970, went to Victoria, B.C. (Canada) to play principal clarinet with the Victoria Symphony and teach at the University of Victoria. This was followed by six years of teaching high school in Villa Park, Illinois and 25 years on the faculty of DePaul University in Chicago where I currently conduct the Wind Ensemble and serve as Chair of Performance Studies. My son, Jeff, will graduate from high school this year and will study music as a percussionist. My wife, Julie, is both an active free-lance clarinetist in Chicago and the Director of Performance Education for the G. Leblanc Corp. in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Life is good.
